Guests, Ice Road, Party, and More

We have been busy busy these past few weeks.  The first set of grandparents were swapped for the other two.

We didn't do much outside of the house due to the cold, but we did take them out on the ice road.  It's quite a feat for that raging huge river to freeze over so much that you can drive on it, even though the scenery is pretty much just white for miles and miles and miles.

Occasionally you might see a dog sled team or snow machiners too

Zeke also turned a month old!  He is growing and getting so big so fast.  He is actually two months old tomorrow, so he has grown since this picture too.  At his eight week appointment he weighed over 12 pounds and measured 23.5 inches in length, so I'd definitely say we have a growing boy on our hands.

He is really strong too.  This is before he was even a month old.  He has been able to hold his head up and look around on his own from the start, and he rolled over moments after this!

Our friend Brenda also organized a baby shower for us with a super yummy cake and good people.

This past week we took our first family walk since it warmed up and was nice one day.  Typical Bethel, though, once we walked out the door we realized the temperature had dropped like 15 degrees and the wind picked up.  We've gotta make Zeke tough for these Alaska winters, so here's a start.

Zeke and I enjoyed a day together last week while Aaron went out caribou hunting (thankfully their hunt was successful!).

The days are getting longer, and we're seeing more sunny days here recently.  Spring is just around the corner, and in just a week we'll be on our way to the Midwest for some more family time and busy days.  We've got a running list of things to do while we're there, so let the packing begin!

Great Oma's Sweater and a Cute Little Face

Isn't this little sweater so cute?  Great Oma made it for Zeke.  He wore it a couple of weeks ago at our baby shower that our dear friend put together for us.

And we just can't get enough of that sweet little face

Yes, I have become that mom who only talks about her baby on public forums, but it's because this little guy is all-consuming of my time lately.  Quite frankly, everything else pales in comparison recently too.

Zeke's Favorite Thing

This is my new favorite thing...

Of course, it's second best when compared to being held and cuddled, but it's a close second when the belly is full, the diaper is dry, and the sleep has been sufficient (and Mommy and Daddy enjoy the free hands for just a few moments too).

Life Lately

Too many pictures, but I just can't seem to choose.  Plus, Oma and Opa are here, so it has been a very exciting week!

Two weeks old!

Like father like son

And Opa!  First meeting of Zeke

Superbowl party 2013!

Lots of snuggle time

At times our little man becomes cross-eyed, and it's oh so cute

Zeke found his thumb and fist to suck on this past week!

 Our growing boy

Three weeks old!

First bottle feeding by Dad was a success!  Zeke took to it with no problem.  Something less to worry about when Mom goes back to work in a few months.

Big boy outfit

We went on our first "date" since Zeke was born...a snow machine ride!  Oma and Opa stayed home with Zeke while we enjoyed a little fresh Alaskan air out on the tundra.  Short but sweet and good for us too.

They have the same expression in this picture : )

Moby!  Such a help when you need free hands and a baby nearby

Life is changed.  It's different, but for the better.  Each day is flying by with greater speed, and our little guy is changing more and more with each new day.  It's so fun to see bits and pieces of his personality come out, and I'm sure it will only grow with the weeks to come.  It's hard to believe Zekes age will not be determined by weeks anymore but by months come Sunday!  Almost a month has gone by already.
Oma and Opa have fallen in love with Zeke, as expected.  It will be interesting to see if he can nap in his Pack n Play or swing once they leave.  It has been so good to have extra hands around, not only to help but also to love our little Zeke.  Papa will be coming immediately after Oma and Opa leave, and we're excited for more visitors!
