New Year's Resolution

We decided our New Year's Resolution this year is to pay off our student debt by January 1, 2013. It may be a lofty goal, but we think we can do it. Plus, we don't have too much to the point where it is daunting. It's just enough to be a challenge but not too much to be unrealistic. Perfect.

We're not really resolution people, but this one seemed like a worthy one. We just don't want to be those people who are 40 that are still paying of their own student debt amongst millions of other payments, as the interest doubles the initial loan in a matter of years. So on to the journey of being debt free! (at least for a little while again)

  1. That is a very worthy goal! It was such a relief when we paid off ours. Being debt-free truely is freedom. With only one teacher's salary for income, our only debt is our mortgage--which we are paying extra on each month so that we save on interest in the end. If you haven't heard of him, check out daveramsey.com and get his book "Total Money Makeover". We did his Financial Peace University at church last year and it was fantastic!! ~Jill
P.S. I'd say to stay warm, but I'm not sure that is possible--heard that it is -40 or so up there.

  2. Dearest Friends,

That's a great goal! Haha ... just for the record ... I may be one of those 40 year olds who is paying off student loans. Hahahaha! I pray that isn't the case! You guys can do it! And to go with Jill's comment, I want to check out this Dave Ramsey guy. I've heard nothing but good things!
